Twelve weeks on the ARC-EX

Image
Jackson started twelve weeks on the ARC-EX this month. It is a spinal cord stimulator made by Onward, the first device of its kind the FDA has approved, and it works from the outside: electrodes on the skin over his spine, sending current down while he works. The idea is that the signal wakes up whatever connections survived the injury. Doctors in Vancouver said there were none. Fourteen months of therapy has already said otherwise. He does it at Courage Kenny in Golden Valley, two or three times a week, three hours in the car each way, around a full school schedule at Alexandria High. He has one goal for the spring and he has not been quiet about it. He wants to walk across the stage at graduation.
